Halloween

I know so many Mom's that love Halloween. I am not one of them. As I race home from work early, stopping to pick up candy on the way (I'm always last minute on this), pick up the kids who are already crazy from the candy they have eaten at school, I'm thinking what can I get them to eat before they go trick-or-treating? They need more than candy, don't they? Before dinner becomes a reality, their friends arrive and they are off. Hey, wait don't you want to put your costumes on? And, there I am chasing them around the neighborhood.

Last year I decided to let them eat as much candy as they wanted, instead of having that eternal argument...please, just one more piece? I figured they would get sick of it eventually, guess what, they never got sick of it. They just kept eating. Finally, I had to put a stop to it. It was making me sick watching them.

This year I am going to ration out the candy, I say to myself, and it works until the morning when I awake to that familiar rustling sound of candy wrappers, and I hear Noah say, shh, Emme you will wake them up.
